MIS

This is a newer concept to podiatry and orthopedics today. Minimally invasive bunion surgery is performed through stab incisions through the skin in order to shave off the “bunion bump” and to “cut the bone to slide over” for bunion correction. There is usually less pain associated with this type of procedure, less visible scarring, and sometimes faster recovery to weight-bearing activities (less scar tissue and joint stiffness following surgery), however, this should only be done in certain patients with good bone quality. Sometimes there are associated reoccurrence rates, especially if this procedure is done on the wrong type of bunion. Our doctor will assess your bunion and discuss what the best treatment bunion option for your bunion is.
