Pediatric Foot Care

It’s a common misconception that foot problems only affect older adults. Children and teens can suffer from a wide range of issues that require care from an experienced podiatrist. We provide compassionate care for patients with pediatric deformities, as well as injuries resulting from active lifestyles.

Pediatric PodiatryPediatric Podiatry

Children’s feet are constantly growing, changing, and adapting as they learn to crawl, walk, run, and play. While many childhood foot concerns are a normal part of development, others may require professional evaluation and treatment to prevent discomfort, mobility issues, or long-term complications. Pediatric podiatry focuses on diagnosing and treating foot and ankle conditions in infants, children, and adolescents.

At Grandville Foot and Ankle, we understand kids’ feet. We know that healthy feet are essential to a child’s overall well-being, and parents drive from 40 minutes out to see Dr. Sarah Stewart because no one near them treats children. Whether your child is experiencing foot pain, walking abnormalities, sports injuries, or developmental concerns, our pediatric podiatry team provides compassionate, personalized care designed to support healthy growth and active lifestyles.

Heel PainHeel Pain

Heel pain is a foot problem affecting adults of all ages. Whether it develops gradually over time or appears suddenly after an injury, pain in the heel can make walking, exercising, working, and even standing uncomfortable. Because the heel absorbs significant force with every step, even minor irritation can quickly become a major disruption to your daily life.

At Grandville Foot and Ankle, we understand how frustrating chronic heel pain can be. Our experienced podiatric team can identify the underlying cause of your discomfort and will develop a personalized treatment plan designed to help reduce pain, restore mobility, and get you back to the activities you enjoy. From conservative therapies to advanced treatment options, we're committed to helping you find lasting relief.

Minimally Invasive Bunion SurgeryMinimally Invasive Bunion Surgery

A bunion, or hallux valgus, is a structural deformity that develops when the big toe joint becomes misaligned, causing the toe to angle toward the smaller toes and creating a bony bump at its base. Bunions are often related to inherited foot structure and can worsen over time, particularly with pressure from narrow or high-heeled shoes. Symptoms may include pain, swelling, stiffness, difficulty wearing shoes, and changes in walking. Treatment usually begins conservatively with wider footwear, custom orthotics, padding, toe spacers, anti-inflammatory care, and other measures designed to relieve symptoms and slow progression. These treatments can improve comfort, but they cannot permanently correct the underlying bone deformity.

For patients whose bunions remain painful, worsen, or interfere with everyday activities despite conservative care, Grandville Foot & Ankle offers surgical correction, including minimally invasive bunion surgery. This approach uses several very small incisions to realign the bones while limiting disruption to surrounding tissue, which may result in smaller scars, less pain and swelling, and an earlier return to protected walking compared with traditional open surgery. Dr. Sarah Stewart evaluates each patient using an examination and weight-bearing X-rays to determine the severity of the bunion and recommend the most appropriate treatment, with care ranging from non-surgical management through advanced surgical correction and recovery.

Swift Microwave Therapy Swift Microwave Therapy

Swift microwave therapy is an FDA-cleared, non-surgical treatment for plantar warts and other stubborn or recurring warts. Instead of freezing, burning, or cutting away the wart, Swift delivers precise microwave energy that gently heats the tissue and activates the body’s immune response against the HPV virus causing the wart. Treatment is quick, requires no anesthetic or cutting, and typically involves about three sessions spaced roughly four weeks apart. Because there is no open wound or dressing, patients can usually return to normal activities immediately after treatment.

Swift is especially useful for plantar warts that have not improved with over-the-counter products, acids, or cryotherapy. Most patients experience only a brief heat or scratching sensation during treatment, with little to no lingering discomfort afterward. Grandville Foot & Ankle offers Swift therapy for both children and adults, with Dr. Sarah Stewart first evaluating the area to confirm the diagnosis and determine whether the treatment is appropriate. Published evidence cited on the page found that 83.3% of plantar warts resolved after an average of 2.8 microwave treatment sessions, although individual results can vary.
